Burger King has announced a deal with Sony Pictures to make a Spider-Man hamburger to help promote the upcoming release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.
The new Spider-Man Whopper is coming to BK stores starting May 15. The Spider-Man theme comes in the form of a red bun featuring black sesame seeds, which is meant to replicate Spider-Man’s own design. It also has melted Swiss cheese and other stuff you’d expect like tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, pickles, onions, and ketchup.
Across the Spider-Verse premieres in theaters on June 2, and the Spider-Burger will be available at BK locations until June 21. The chain is also rolling out a Spider-Verse ice cream sundae this summer, featuring soft serve ice cream with black and red chocolate candies on it.
Across the Spider-Verse is the sequel to 2018’s Into the Spider-Verse, which won Best Animated Feature Film at the Oscars. The sequel was expected to arrive much sooner but was delayed due in part to the pandemic. A third movie, Beyond the Spider-Verse, is coming in 2024.
